Physician Assistant

to join our growing Medical Team!

Primary Purpose

The Physician Assistant will have a compassionate understanding of patients who are struggling with symptoms of addiction and mental illness. They will apply medical techniques and principles under the direction of a supervising physician and deal with a diverse set of patients by offering them care and encouragement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify short-term and long-range patient care issues.
  • Assess patient's health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, obtaining, and updating medical histories.
  • Order diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, laboratory studies, interpret test results, and develop care plans.
  • Prescribe and administer medication based on evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Document patient care services in electronic health record.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures by administering injections, immunizations, sutures, and managing wounds and infections.
  • Instruct and counsel patient-based diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Promote wellness and health maintenance.
  • Cultivate a climate of care and trust with patients.
  • Comply strictly with medical care and safety standards.
  • Provide continuity of care by developing patient-provider relationships.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation. Anticipate future legislation. Enforce adherence to requirements and advise management on needed actions.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Consult with supervising physician when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with and contributes to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Experience, Education, and credentials

  • Must hold an active Physician Assistant License by the State of Oregon.
  • Eligible to become certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physical Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Ability to prescribe controlled substances and has an active DEA license.
  • Willing to complete 8 hours of MAT training.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the practices and techniques of medicine.
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques and methods.
  • Conduct medical treatment/intervention as appropriate in emergencies.
  • Maintain positive public relations.
  • Collaborate with other professional staff.
  • Communicate with others effectively.
  • Provide direct care in a kind and compassionate manner.
  • Respond appropriately even in stressful situations.
  • Provide compassionate understanding regarding patients who are struggling with symptoms of addiction and mental illness.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates must be able to pass reference and criminal background checks.
  • Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated at employment start date.
